Howdy bike racers and those that have joined late! Just a reminder that it's Bike To/At Work month! The month when we can git folks who wouldn't normally get off their ass and ride the mile and a half to work to hop on their Free Spirits, don a Bell V1 PRO and tell folks that they "rode to work"! Woo Hoo! Now when's lunch and where's my free BTW water bottle... and how come there was only 6 BTW stands on my 1.5 mile epic ride to work?
Just kiddin' OAD and StokerDiva... Ol' Curly is appreciative that Seattle has such a thing... He also likes that the mayor opened his wallet to put together a 240m dollar bike plan. Maybe I can have 28 of those dollars to stop at Dunn Lumber and buy some QuickRete to fill the damned potholes on First Ave with something other than chewing gum.
You should see the bike cage at the Big Coffee Cup these days. 50-70 bikes crammed in there. I'll post some photos of it a little later today. it's quite a site. Speakin' of which I'd like to thank a couple of people from the Coffee Cage. The person who keeps putting "Your Bike Is Hot!" cards on all of the race bikes. You have good taste. And B... the jokester who crammed his circa Beijing vegetable market POS right next to Phyllis and put a scratch in her. I'm so thankful I'm gonna come to yer cube. (Phyllis is the love of my riding life for those later arrivers). This reminds Ol' Curly of last year's BTW month when another thoughtful individual did the same thing to Loretta (last year's love of my life). That resulted in some fine discussion.
Yeah, the Coffee Cage has quite a few fine ponies... My favorite is the Bianchi Track bike with a 8 inch wide flat bar and mountain bike grips on it... Old Skool. Nothing says "I can't breathe" like a narrow mtn bar.
Ol' Curly can hear it now... "But Curly... you should ride something less nice to/at work" or "Curly why not put some fine electrical tape all over yer bike like me?" To which I'll say shut yer yapper. You know Curly likes things his own way at his own time in his own place. Practice some care with yer pony in the Coffee Cage. Go lean yer BikeFriday up against that Giant Topanga with rust on it... there's plenty of room.
Yer Trainin': In anticipation for upcoming races... We're back to hard interval sessions. I want you to sprint in your 60X9 at 200 rpms until you pass out. When you wake up that signals the start of the next "work" period. Oh... and watch yer damned bike... Phyllis prefers Eye-talians.
