Well, howdy bike racers! Ol' Curly is a pretty happy camper these days. I'm hopin' it don't ruin the tone of this here blog.
Now how 'bout that Leiperheimerstein? Just when I thought he'd pull another Hampsten, he responded to the challenge. The TT will tell.
Now I know what yer thinkin'... "Curly, what the hell is a Hampsten?" OK... I'll tell ya. Hampsten was always famous for sayin' "well, I'm lay low until the mountains and giver her a try"... then he'd blow the whole damn thing cuz he didn't have the fire to win. Then he'd quit the race due to some kind of ketchup poisoning conspiracy. Loser... Ya gotta attack and take control of the race. You never saw Lemond sit back and wait... or Lance... or Indurain... or anybody that's won in the last 300 years... That always pissed Ol' Curly off about Hamptsten... you wanted him to do something, but he'd just sit there... pedaling a 39X29 and looking like a FRED on his bike. Might as well throw some panniers on and call yerself a tourist. Yeah... his position needed work too. The only exception was when he was on La Vie Claire... that was his best year. He actually looked badass.
So back to Leipheimer... It's a good thing for him that Bruyneel is his "brain"... that should push his ass onto the podium.
Now win Leipheimershcmidt! I need to spit in the face of the french at the end of July and there's no better way to do that than have yet ANOTHER American (moment of silence please) lead the podium...
YEEEEEE-HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Levi's history of doing well enough at the grand tours without actually ever attacking or racing aggressively led me to believe that he is more suited for the 10-day stage races. I was supporting Levi at the start of the Tour, thinking that Brunyeel could be the final piece to the puzzle -- and that he'd finally get his shit together and nut up for a grand tour. Boy, was I wrong! His racing style has been dreadful ... shadowing Kloden/Vino while the other 'real' contenders made the Moreau split the other day was the nail in the coffin for my Leipheimer support. More like Pussyheimer. I am now hoping Contador takes over Discovery leadership... In the meantime, I will be supporting Mayo and Moreau.
Hampsten rode 100% clean in the heyday of EPO, and still won stages. so, yeah he looked human sometimes, and knew how to balance ambition vs. ability, and not go all six guns a blazin' against a 60% Indurain.
Your right......total pussy.
Dammit Andy... who let your ass in here?
