Yesterday was a Dr. visit... not for Ol' Curly, but for Mrs. Curly. The Dr. did a bunch of stuff and while she was feeling around to listen to lil' Curly #2, he kicked her hand... hard. The Dr. sez... "Whoa, you got yourself a football player here."... Of course Curly sez... "Hell no Doc... this is a cycling family... ain't no damned football family. Now grab one of them silver instruments and measure the wattage of them kicks... I gotta know which kid to focus my love and attention on." Just kidding folks... about that last part anyway. Lil' Curly #2 did kick and he did kick hard... and the Doc did say some crap about football... I bit my tongue. Her product review of #2 was that he was gonna be a big kid... bigger than #1 prolly.
Speakin' of product reviews. I've ridden alot of damned bikes over the years. Peugeot, Ciocc, Specialized, Puch, Poghliagi, LeMond, Davidson, Leader, Tsunami, Torelli, Paul Barkley, Airborne, Kona and so on... but this year I picked a British frame (at least the label sez)... Well, I got about 400 miles on it now and yesterday was the first day I got to ride it in the sun... with my new Ritchey Protocols on it. Curly's lil Planet-X is one fine bicycle... light, pretty stiff... it's aluminum and alot damned twitchier than anything I've ever ridden. Even more than the damned track bike I've got. It tracks well but this is not a bars off kind of bike. Ya see it don;t take kindly to uneven weight distribution... just too damned twitchy up front. My guess is that the longer top tube and the fact that it's sloping might have something to do with it. It could also be that they designed the idea around a smaller frame and just "enlarged" it. I like the bike for sure... it is aluminum but man you hardly feel the bumps like cuz it has small diameter tubing where it counts.
Unibet got screwed... but then I've been sayin' that. ASO/UCI battle is over for now... bunch of candy-asses.
Your workout: I want you to ride a tandem today.... but ride it by yourself. And sit on the back... this will help you with your balance for crit/track season. Lord knows you buggers need it. Can't find a tandem? Then ride a unicycle today... I call this workout... "Balance you can afford".
Trivia tomorrow.
